Satellites

I’ve never made satellite contact before, but indeed it is great fun and quite addicting. After been checking the current active satellites and get additional information about how to operate through them I planned to give this jump.

These two satellites, like conventional FM repeaters can only carry one QSO at a time, so we have a single channel and higher levels of demand. So to keep informed about any operating procedures for FM satellites ensure as many people as possible can make contacts during the pass.

FM satellite operation can be enjoyable for everyone due to power levels are not critical. You should need a bit more than 5 watts into a basic 1/2 wave handheld antenna. I was using just a pair of transceivers, one tuned to the uplink and second one tuned to the downlink. I also recommend you to use headphones to avoid causing feedback when transmitting. Hearing yourself in your ears every time you transmit can be helpful, firstly to know if you're accessing the satellite and secondly to ensure you're transmitting alone.

Here you can find some stations worked via Satellites, Red are QSOs  that have been performed these days  via SO-50 and Blue are QSOs performed via AO-85.

I currently use LotW and eQSL to electronically confirm my SAT contacts,  but I will gladly mail a physical QSL to anyone who sends me one. I hope to hear you on the birds, 73s de EB2GKK.
Here is a copy of my QSL card send by email.

Here I have selected the most interesting eQSLs cards received from QSOs made via SAT. I currently use LotW and eQSL to electronically confirm my contacts,  but I will gladly mail a physical QSL to anyone who sends me one.
